Tree Lighting Ceremony
Kick off the holiday season at 4pm on Wed., Dec. 1 on the quarterdeck of Bldg. 1 with a musical performance by the Navy Band Great Lakes and Bluejacket Choir. Also on the agenda: a special VIP guest visit from the North Pole, the announcement of the Holiday Card Challenge winners and the lighting of the holiday trees!

Holiday Extravaganza & Trees for Troops
FREE LIVE TREES, holiday crafts, photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa and cookies by the fire, FREE bowling and food and beverage specials are all happening at the Epicenter (Bldg. 525) on Thurs., Dec. 2 from 4:30-7:30pm. Tree pickup times:
- 4:30-5:30pm: Active Duty E1-E6 families
- 5:30-6:30pm: Active Duty E7 and above families
- 6:30-7:30pm: All other eligible MWR customers

Veterinary Clinic
Did you know Great Lakes has a Veterinary Clinic?
The Veterinary Clinic (Bldg. 43H) is a fully functional small animal clinic, offering vaccines, wellness appointments, sick calls, surgery and dental cleanings. We also provide international health certificates for pets of service members PCSing overseas. Using our facility eliminates the need to get documents from USDA, and will save you both time and money!
- Eligibility: Activity duty military, reserve, retired, and family members with a valid ID card.
- Open Mon.-Fri. for appointments and often have same-day appointment availability.

Great Lakes Brew Club
MWR’s new Brew Club is located in (Bldg. 140) and features a rotating variety of over 20 local Lake County and regional craft beers! From wheat and fruited ales, session sours, lagers, pilsners, dopplebocks, stouts, East Coast to West Coast IPA’s and hazy in-betweens, we are certain you'll find a favorite! Ciders, wine, seltzers, and sodas are available as well as small bites. See our current menus below. Take advantage of the Epicenter’s Spinz delivery and order pizza and wings to pair with your brew! The Brew Club is open to all hands, 21+ on Thurs., Fri., and Sat. from 4:30-9pm.

- “Deck the Halls” throughout the first week of December and help brighten up The Loft with holiday cheer!
- On Christmas day, stop by for the “Holiday Gift Grab” to open free presents!
If you’re here through the stand down period, check out all we have to offer in the Loft: free laptop and Wifi usage, mini-movie theater, Great Room lounge, music rooms with guitars, drums, keyboards, and recording equipment, video game stations including the brand new Xbox X series, ping pong, air hockey, a snack bar and more! The Loft is an alcohol/tobacco free recreation center for E1-E6 personnel and their guests (ages 18 and older).
