Summer Hours Start May 1
Starting May 1, the facility will be open from 8:30am-4:30pm daily for ticket sales, gear rental, vehicle storage, recreational lodging, marina services, and Ship Store retail.
Fishing 101 || Mon., May 8 || 4-6pm
Come down to learn the basics of fishing! You will learn about different types of fish here in Lake Michigan, components of a pole set up, and knot tying.
Outdoor Movie Night || Fri., May 19 || 8pm

Marina
Salmon are already in the Harbor! Come down to the Marina to get all your fishing gear. We have a new option for Salmon trolling this year. Rent one of our T-12 fishing boats with an electric trolling motor (in harbor us only) and get out to where the fish are. All that is required is an in person practical (all practical's require 48 hour notice.) We also have additional gear for rent and purchase including archery, camping, boats, and inflatables. Beach House & Pavilion Rentals
Looking to host a command picnic, party, or simply a BBQ with some friends this summer? MWR has several facilities available along the lakefront on base to rent for free or at a discounted rate to fit your needs! In addition, we have yard games, tables, chairs, inflatables, and more available for on or off base use throughout the year. Critter Story Time and Craft || May 17
Join us at the Great Lakes Library at 10:30am every third Wednesday of the month for a themed story time and a craft! At the May 17 story time, we will be learning about insects and other critters. The craft included will be to create your own insect pal to take home with you! All ages are welcome.

Workout For a Fallen Hero || May 1-31
Throughout the month of May, MWR and Navy Gold Star are honoring our Military Fallen Hero's. In doing so, we ask our Great Lakes community to stop in any of our MWR Fitness Centers to dedicate a workout to a Fallen Hero. Participants will fill out a card with the name of their Fallen Hero and the workout they are dedicating to them. These cards will be on display in our fitness centers throughout May.
1st Annual Barbells & BBQ
Join us for a powerlifting meet combined with a cookout! A day of lifting, eating, competition, and camaraderie.

1000lb & 500lb Club
The 1000lb & 500lb Club is an exclusive weightlifting club for both male and female lifters. To become a “member” of the club, participants must perform one repetition of a squat, bench press and deadlift with a combined weight of 1000lb or more for males and 500lbs or more for females. Competitors will then be recognized on our Club Board at Gym 4 in the Warrior Zone.
